The Curriculum in Translational Hematology provides the knowledge and the skills necessary to conduct pre-clinical and clinical research projects in the fields of hematology. A special focus is on multiple myeloma and acute leukemias, considering that these two diseases are grouped together as they have strong pathogenetic, pathophysiological, and clinical interconnections. Attention is also given to tumor microenvironment components, which represent an addition area of investigation in the Curriculum. The post-genomic era is bringing a revolution in understanding of blood cancers and the design of related therapies. However, clarifying the cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating complex systems requires a deep interaction between basic and applied research.
During their PhD, students will join an established research group, will have access to cutting-edge technology, and will learn the latest research techniques, alongside transferable skills that will support their career aspirations. 
Previous experience in hematology research is not required, but could be helpful.
